Ms. Leacock was born in Barbados, Caribbean and grew up in the Midwest in a suburb of Chicago.
Ms. Leacock received her B.A. in psychology from Princeton University (1995) where she wrote her collegiate thesis, A Conception of a Human Value Theory. Ms. Leacock earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center (1998) where she was the notes and comments editor of the Georgetown Journal on Fighting Poverty. While at Georgetown, Ms. Leacock was as a student attorney in the Georgetown University's Juvenile Justice Clinic who zealously represented juveniles charged with criminal offenses, which earned her the Juvenile Justice Clinic Public Service Award. During her stay in Washington, D.C., Ms. Leacock was a summer legal intern at the Public Defender Service in Washington, D.C., where she assisted in the legal representation of both juveniles and adults charged with criminal offenses.
Ms. Leacock moved to Miami, Florida in 1998 following her graduation from law school to work as an assistant public defender for the Law Office of Bennett H. Brummer, Public Defender for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida. While at the Public Defender's Office, Ms. Leacock Defended thirty plus jury trials including life and other serious felonies as well as high profile media cases. Ms. Leacock served as lead litigator in numerous jury trials and conducted extensive legal research, investigations, interviews, depositions, motions practice and discovery as well as worked with expert witnesses in preparation for trial and during pre-trial motions. Ms. Leacock also attended training at the National Criminal Defense College (NCDC) in Macon, GA.
Ms. Leacock left her position at the Public Defender's Office to work in the corporate securities industry before returning to the legal practice of criminal defense and founding the Law Office of Talitha M. Leacock. During this time, Ms. Leacock served as senior counsel in the Miami Regional Office, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Enforcement Division to investigate securities fraud committed against investors and as a corporate and securities associate at the law firm of Baker & McKenzie LLP, where she served on the firm's pro bono committee.

Ms. Leacock is admitted to practice law in the State of Florida (1998), U.S. District Court, the Southern District of Florida, and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Florida (2003).
Ms. Leacock is a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys-Miami Chapter (FACDL-Miami), American Bar Association (ABA), Federal Bar Association, and Dade County Bar Association.
As a member of the Princeton Club of South Florida, Ms. Leacock has awarded the Princeton Book Award to local high school recipients and conducts interviews of Princeton University applicants for the Princeton University Alumni Student Committee (ASC). Ms. Leacock is also one of the founding members of the Miami Feet Runners Club.
